Week of 02-18-2013

Hello!

Although this week has gone by very fast, the students have accomplished much within the math classroom. The sixth grade students are working hard with fractions. The sixth gold class will be finishing up multiplying and dividing fractions, with a test approaching next week. The sixth green class will take their re-scheduled unit test on Monday. The seventh grade students have finished up their unit on comparing and scaling figures. They have begun their group projects on creating the ultimate shopping mall. They will present their finish products next week. The eighth grade students are are finishing up their unit on quadratic relationships. Each of the classes have received information on a project that will be due next Tuesday. They have taken a vocabulary test on Friday, and will take their unit test the following Monday. The students should continue to work on ALEKS. Since we all had Monday off, the students should complete 2 less topics than normal required for this week.

Have a great weekend!

Hello,

The students worked very hard this last week. They are all continuing to work through their units. The 6 green, 7 gold/green, and 8 gold/green classes are nearing their unit test. ALEKS topics finished on Sunday night, like usual. This coming week, 02-19-2013, the students will do TWO LESS topics than usually required to do, since we had Monday off. Thank you and I hope you all have a great week.

Week of 02-04-2013

Hello!

The students continue to work hard throughout the week in each class, especially math. The sixth grade students are diving deeper into the concept of working with fractions. The sixth grade gold class finished up their Bits and Pieces 1 unit with a vocabulary quiz, which they did amazing on, and a unit test. The seventh grade classes are moving successfully through the Comparing and Scaling unit and learning more about unit rates compared to linear equations. The eighth grade students are coming close to the end of their unit, working with quadratic equations. All parents should be checking the student planner each night, making sure that they are staying on task and are fully prepared for the next school day. All students should be working to obtain their weekly ALEKS topic goal. Keep working hard!

Week of 01-28-2013

Hello,

The students are still doing a tremendous job with their work study skills. I encourage all students to keep working hard, especially when preparing for the ISTEP that will soon be approaching. The sixth grade students are finishing up their introduction to fractions, decimals, and percents. They are entering the topic of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. The seventh grade students began their new unit, Comparing and Scaling. The eighth grade students are still working on quadratic relationships. We all ended the Catholic School's Week with the fun Teachers vs. Students volleyball game. All students should still be working hard on their ALEKS topics.
